Presentation

The Domaine de Faugeroux is a long family sage. In addition to the land, the passion of wine and the respect of wine tradition are transmitted from generation to generation. It is Bruno Richards’s wish, the owner of the vineyard to renew with his family roots in Medoc and their ancestral winery methods, in order to give his wine a very particular identity.

Our estate

The Domaine de Faugeroux is located in Civrac en Medoc, North-East the Medoc area. Our vineyards have been planted on gravely and clayey-calcareous grounds for over 30 years and we pay them a very careful attention all over the year.

From passion to tradition… Working with our horse

Bruno Richard and Acle-Nero, a wonderful Shire horse make a very efficient couple for the vineyard : ploughing, spreading, ground airing, de-earthing… all the work in the vineyard is done in an ancestral way to increase the quality of the wine. This long-term and precise work requires a perfect and complice partnership with the animal yielding great happiness in return…

Winemaking

Elaborated from Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes varieties, the grapes are harvested by hands then sorted in a cat room and kept in a vine making vat. During the fermentation, the solid parts of the grapes float over the liquid hence making the “hat” which will be sprayed many times per day. The distinctive characteristic of the Domaine is to punch this hat down by hand with a piene of wood. Thanks to these ancestral gestures, tannins and anthocyanins (the color of the wine) are extracted. The our wine is developed in barrels for 12 to 18 months before it is bottled.
